Teenage thrash metal band who sing in Te Reo Maori to play first European festival

Alien Weaponry won both of the competitions within the same weekend.

New Zealand thrash metal band Alien Weaponry made headlines last year for their unique mix of heavy metal music and Te Reo Maori.

Today, the Northland natives have announced they will play their first European festival next year.

Alien Weaponry will play on the Bosko Bursac stage at Metaldays in Slovenia, a festival that runs from July 23 to 28.

With all three band members under the age of 18, it is believed that the band is the youngest act to ever play the festival as well as being the first New Zealanders, according to a statement.

Drummer Henry de Jong said it’s hard to believe that come the middle of next year "we’ll be sharing the stage with some of the biggest metal names in the world."

The band has been signed to a three-year contract with Berlin-based management agency Das Maschine.
