Surface flooding hits Hokitika after heavy rain overnight

There is surface flooding in Hokitika this morning after heavy rain hit the West Coast town yesterday and overnight.

Seven Sharp reporter Julian Lee is in Hokitika and told TVNZ1's Breakfast this morning there are still parts of the town underwater and fire fighters are giving assistance where needed after working through the night.

"The real concern now is Buller up the road … which is due to get a pounding later on today," Lee says.
