Sudden death of baby in Whakatāne not being treated as supicious

The sudden death of a baby in the Bay of Plenty town of Whakatāne is not being treated as suspicious.

Police confirmed to 1 NEWS yesterday they were advised of the infant's death yesterday morning around 11am.

The death was until now, being treated as unexplained.

"A post mortem will take place in coming days," police say.
