The four Year 9 students at St. Patrick's College Silverstream were suspended over last week's alleged incident that involved "inappropriate filming" of two staff members, Rector Gerard Tully confirmed to 1NEWS.

1NEWS understands the staff members filmed were women.

"We have been dealing with a most distressing incident of sexual harassment," Mr Tully said in a statement.

"The students involved have been suspended from school, pending a hearing with the Board of Trustees Discipline Sub-Committee.

"Out of concern for the recovery of the victims I will not be commenting further."

The incident comes after another Wellington high school, Wellington College, held a special assembly yesterday to address rape jokes made on Facebook allegedly by two prominent students.
