St John staff withdraw planned strike action for today

Today's planned strike action by St John staff has been called off, with union members reaching a tentative agreement.

Staff had previously raised concerns about weekend and night work not being recognised, and shift pay not being introduced.

Under the new agreement, First Union members will receive all the benefits of previous offers.

St John has increased its operating deficit to fund the move.

The agreement still needs to be ratified by the union.
