January 11, 2019
The SPCA is investigating a disturbing case that happened on Wednesday morning and is appealing to the public to come forward with any information to find the possible offenders.

SPCA are appealing to the public for information after a kitten was thrown from a moving car, taped inside a shoebox in Christchurch.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at approximately 8.30am on New Brighton Road.

The box landed in a red zone paddock not far from the Bower Tavern.

Witnesses have described the car as a silver Holden Commodore with the back left door panel a different colour, possibly a brown or maroon colour. The right rear wheel was a space saver tyre.

There were at least two people in the car, maybe three. The shoebox containing the kitten was tossed out of the front passenger’s window by a male wearing a red singlet.

The SPCA has nicknamed the kitten Brighton. He has severe cat flu and was sore and distressed from the incident.

But he is under veterinary care and expected to make a full recovery.

If anyone has any information that could help the SPCA investigations call the Christchurch centre on 03 349 7057.
