Some 9000 Air New Zealand passengers likely to be affected by Dreamliner engine issue

April 24, 2018

The airline says there will be changes to departure times the possibility of cancellations.

A further 9000 Air New Zealand customers will face flight disruptions this week following ongoing issues with the engines on Dreamliner planes.

Earlier this month, European aviation regulator EASA ordered airlines to carry out earlier than usual maintenance checks on a specific part of the Trent 1000 engine compressor.

It affected around 380 of the twin-engined aircraft around the world, including two of Air New Zealand's aircraft.

The airline says changes to departure times and aircraft are likely with the possibility of some cancellations.

The engines from both planes were sent to Singapore last week for maintenance.

Air New Zealand has apologised for the inconvenience and customers are advised to check the airline's website for up-to-date travel information.
