Skipping breakfast a couple of times a week is beneficial for health claims Kiwi in new book

April 19, 2018

AUT'S Professor and co-author Grant Schofield spoke about fasting on TVNZ1's Breakfast today.

A new book called What the Fast is suggesting that skipping some meals will benefit New Zealanders.

AUT'S Professor and co-author Grant Schofield says, "In the last 30 years the food industry in particular drove this whole breakfast thing, then three meals a day and snacks as the guidelines and it's just wrong."

"The thing is if you miss breakfast you just eat less," he told TVNZ1's Breakfast today.

Mr Schofield says humans are naturally cycled in and out of having food, as it wasn't always available.

What the Fast suggests that by simply not eating breakfast and lunch on Mondays and Tuesdays and then supercharging your dinner meals that night will be beneficial.

Mr Schofield says staying away from carbohydrates and sugars is beneficial for people's health as they're foods that make you want to eat.

The book includes practical tips, meal recipes, inspiring success stories and the science behind it.
