Sir Ray Avery's self-imposed deadline to have LifePod baby incubator ready expires

March 13, 2019

Donors to Sir Ray’s charity are upset the incubators have not been delivered to the Pacific.

Former New Zealander of the Year Sir Ray Avery has missed his own self-imposed deadline to have his LifePod baby incubator ready.

Sir Ray told 1 NEWS in July last year that he'd have the LifePod ready to distribute to the Pacific Islands by February.

But he's since declined requests to be interviewed and says we'd need to go to India to see one working.

He says the LifePod is finished and he's seeking extra certification for the incubator, which will take a minimum of five months.

Sir Ray has taken millions of dollars from donors for the LifePod since at least 2014 and apologised via an interview last year for not being clearer to donors about its progress.
