Sir Michael Hill's new luxury superyacht to go up for hire - for a jaw-dropping cost

Sir Michael Hill's luxurious 40-metre-long superyacht could soon be up for hire - with an equally extravagant cost.

At $273,000 a week, The Beast offers up to 12 guests three outdoor dining experiences, including a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant on the fly bridge, and comes complete with kayaks, paddle boards and fishing equipment, Stuff reports.

However, it isn't all about luxury. The five-cabin catamaran can also be used for scuba diving, ferrying crews to oil and gas rigs, and even has a remote-operated submarine for investigating underwater sites.

The Beast, which was built over 22 months in Palmerston North, is powered by two main diesel engines with 715 horsepower, and weighs in at a whopping 480 tonnes when carrying its full load.

It also measures 40 metres long and 12 metres wide, making it one of the largest boats made in New Zealand.

The Beast will travel from Foxton to Wellington in two weeks for some final touches before settling in Auckland.
