National Party Leader Simon Bridges has given a tribute to MP Jonathan Coleman who announced his retirement from politics today.
"Jonathan has been a great mate of mine and someone who I have a lot of time for," says Mr Bridges.
National MP and former Health Minister Jonathan Coleman has resigned from Parliament after nine years.
Mr Bridges says he made a lot of contribution to National the Government and New Zealand.
"For his family, it's the right time. I wish him all the very best for the future."
He is taking on a new role as CEO of Acurity Health Group by April 30.
Acurity Health is a private health care company which owns and operates Bowen Hospital, Royston Hospital and Wakefield Hospital.
In a statement, Mr Coleman said he was thankful for his time in parliament.
"It's been a huge privilege to serve as a Member of Parliament for the past 13 years, nine of them as a Cabinet Minister.
"I have greatly enjoyed my time as a Member of Parliament, and am proud of the work I've been involved in, both as a Minister and as the MP for Northcote."
