Shocked boy in Air NZ Christmas ad still buzzing over new-found fame

The young boy who features in Air New Zealand's Christmas video has been buzzing following his new found fame, his mother says.

Archie is overwhelmed when, with the help of Air New Zealand, his dad creates a huge sign in flashing lights to ensure Santa pays a visit.

The six-year-old has recently moved back to Queensberry near Wanaka with his family after living in Broome in Western Australia and was concerned Santa might miss him this year.

Air New Zealand says the 'Santa Stop Here' video has been viewed online by more than two million people around the world.

Since being released last Wednesday, the video has attracted more than 3,000 comments, 30,000 shares and 34,000 likes on Facebook, attracting a new comment, share or like on the airline's Facebook page every minute.

The story of the video has also attracted international media coverage, including Australia's 7News and Sydney Morning Herald and The Daily Mail in the UK.

Air New Zealand's Head of Global Brand Development Jodi Williams says the video was created for the Australian market to encourage expats and Australian holidaymakers alike to experience the beauty of New Zealand in summer.

Archie's mum Sam Davidson says the response to the video has been overwhelming and their phones started going crazy the day the video was released and haven't stopped since.

"Archie is now pretty confident Santa is going to find him this year."
