Shallow 4.7 magnitude Milford Sound earthquake felt in Queenstown

A shallow 4.7 magnitude quake has been felt near Milford Sound this morning.

The "moderate" quake occurred 15km north-west of Milford Sound at around 10.07am, according to Geonet.

A total of 86 people reported feeling the quake, but said they felt weak or light shaking.

The quake could be felt by residents in Queenstown.
