Serious crash in North Otago disrupts traffic on SH1, with more closures likely

A serious two-car crash on State Highway 1 in North Otago has blocked one lane and police say further closures are likely.

Police are attending the crash about one kilometre south of the turn-off to Moeraki. The crash occurred at about 8.10pm.

Police say the southbound lane is currently blocked and further closures are likely.

Two helicopters have been dispatched from Dunedin.

Motorists are being urged to avoid travelling through the area if possible.
