Serious crash forces closure of State Highway 1 near Tirau in Waikato

State Highway One north of Tirau in Waikato is closed after a serious crash today.

Police say the single vehicle crash occurred by the golf course at about midday today.

One person has serious injuries and another person has minor injuries.

Police say the road will be closed for some time while emergency services work at the scene.

Diversions will be put in place and motorists are urged to avoid the area.
