A search and rescue operation is underway for Jasin Campbell, 35, on the Takaka Hill near Motueka.
Mr Campbell's silver Nissan van was found in the area, set up for camping, but he has not been seen since Saturday.
He is about 174cm tall, of thin build and has dark coloured hair.
Police say they have concerns for his wellbeing and safety.
Anyone with information about Mr Campbell's whereabouts should contact their local police station.
