Wild weather has roared through Christchurch this morning.
It's been a wild night in Christchurch as a thunderstorm hit the city.
Heavy rain, thunder and lightning has woken up households and shaken buildings.
Around 300 homes were without power this morning.
Orion says lightening strikes directly striking the main power poles in the area caused the blackout which left 2000 were initially without power.

The Fire Service say they've responded to a calls out relating to weather-related false alarms.
