Raw: Skateboarder cruises amongst grid-locked Auckland motorists traffic after motorway truck crash

December 11, 2017

A skateboarder has been seen cruising amongst traffic that was grid-locked after a large truck and trailer jack-knifed, blocking all northbound lanes of Auckland's Southern Motorway this afternoon.

Jealous motorists were forced to watch as the young skater glided through the massive line of vehicles who were going nowhere while emergency services tried to clear the scene in the blazing sun.

Dashcam footage of the incident which happened around 2:30pm this afternoon, was posted to YouTube by Peter Smith.

The footage shows the truck sliding down the roadside barrier in a cloud of burnt rubber before it jack-knifes sideways leaving all the northbound lanes of Auckland's Southern Motorway blocked just after Papakura.

Luckily the traffic behind the truck saw the incident in time, narrowly managing to avoid disaster.

Video sent to 1 NEWS by Kurt Schultz, who was stuck in traffic near the incident, shows a long line of cars waiting for the truck to be cleared, with people getting out of their vehicles while they wait.

The New Zealand Transport Authority have recently tweeted that the crash is now cleared but motorists are expected to have delays in the area.
