Police warn Waikato residents over group of men going door-to-door offering home maintenance services

Police have issued a warning to Waikato residents over a group of men going door-to-door offering bogus home maintenance services.

According to police the individuals often approach homeowners saying they are "contractors who just happen to be in the area".

Detective Sergeant Philip Elvy says homeowners can sometimes be convinced into handing over money up-front or feel pressured to do so.

However, police say these individuals are often out to obtain easy money and then quickly leave.

"If you are approached in such a situation - do not engage and do not hand over any money," says Detective Sergeant Elvy.

"We advise you call Police immediately on 111 if you are approached in this situation."
