Police swoop to seize Head Hunters gang pad in Christchurch

Police have taken civil proceedings against the Head Hunters gang in Christchurch.

Police have taken civil proceedings against the Head Hunters gang in Christchurch, seizing their pad this morning.

Police have been granted a restraining order by the High Court in Christchurch over motorcycles and residential properties, including a gang pad in Vickerys Road.

Drug sniffing dogs were used as Christchurch police raided the pad early today.

This comes after police prosecuted key members of the Head Hunters following an operation last year for alleged organised crime and drug dealing offences.

That case is currently before the court.

"We have a zero tolerance approach to gangs and criminals operating across Canterbury," says District commander Superintendent John Price.

"Gangs drive organised crime across New Zealand and reducing the harm they cause to families and communities is a priority for Police."

Last month, police launched an extensive investigation into a senior member of the Head Hunters gang in Auckland, executing a search warrant at a Motorcycle Club in the suburb of Ellerslie.
