Police have arrested three men after they allegedly robbed a commercial property in Kingsland, Auckland overnight and then proceeded to shoot at officers while on the run.

Police say the men entered a commercial premises on New North Road armed with firearms, threatened staff, then made off with cash - fleeing the scene in a silver Mitsubishi Airtrek.

They were called to the scene around 4am and recovered the car a short distance from the premises.

Police then located a black BMW heading south a short time after the robbery and pulled the car over.

The occupant of the car then used a firearm against police.

The Police Eagle Helicopter tracked the vehicle towards the South Western motorway where more shots were fired at police.

The men ended up in the Māngere area where they fled on foot through a cemetery.

They were then tracked using police dogs and taken into custody.

One of the men received minor injuries to his lower leg as a result of a police dog bite.

The three men, aged, 39, 37 and 24 have been charged with aggravated robbery and using a firearm against a law enforcement officer.

They are due to appear in the Auckland District Court tomorrow.

Police would like to speak with anyone who may have located items that could have been discarded from the BMW between Onehunga and Māngere.
