Police search for 77-year-old Tauranga man suffering dementia, missing for two days

Police are continuing to search for a 77-year-old man who disappearaed in Tauranga two days ago.

John Kohi Mohi, also known as John Moses, was last seen on Wilson Road, in the Maketu area, on Monday at around 1pm, Tauranga Police Inspector Zane Smith said.

Mr Mohi has been described as having a dark complexion, slim build, 182cm tall with white hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a dark business-style button-down shirt with a blue and white check pattern, a pair of black or grey pants, and jandals. 

He is also known to walk with his head down in a stooped position.

Mr Mohi, who has dementia, has not contacted his family since Monday and they have concerns for his safety, police said.

"We are working closely with John’s family at this time and a number of police staff are working to locate him. We have Land SAR and police continuing to comb the Maketu area today and into the evening," Mr Smith said.
