Police release name after man's body found under Tauranga bridge

A man's body found in Tauranga on Friday has been identified as Mitchell Curtis Rehua Paterson of Ngaruawahia, aged 26. 

Police have launched a homicide investigation and are searching a residential property in Hamilton. 

Detective Inspector Lewis Warner said Mr Paterson's body was found under McLaren Falls Bridge, on McLaren Falls Road, in the water. 

His body was discovered at 11.30am Friday morning.
