Police say they are not ruling out pressing further charges against New Zealand basketball star Corey Webster following a late-night incident in an Auckland bar this week.
Webster, who plays for the New Zealand Breakers in the ANBL and the Tall Blacks, was charged with assault following reports of a fight at The Takapuna Bar on the North Shore early on Wednesday.
Police said a 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with assaulting another man.
Tuesday was the guard's 28th birthday.
The Breakers confirmed Webster's arrest, and stood him down for a game for breaching the "club's values".
Today, Senior Sergeant Michael Rickards said their investigations were continuing.
"We are speaking with several people as part of our investigation and are not ruling out the possibility of further charges against the accused," he told 1 NEWS.
The club said Webster hadn't immediately informed them of what happened.
Police said the victim was not seriously injured.
Webster was granted bail and is due to appear in court next week.
