Police looking for two men following armed robbery of Rotorua petrol station

Police are investigating following the armed robbery of a Rotorua petrol station on Monday.

Two men, including one armed with a gun, entered the Lynmore Junction BP, on Te Ngae Road, at around 2am.

The firearm was equipped with a muzzle device which appeared similar to a silencer.

The pair demanded tobacco, cigarettes and cash, before fleeing with the stolen items towards Lynmore School, on Isles Road.

The men were then seen driving away from the scene in a sedan-type car.

The man wielding a firearm was described as Māori, 182cm tall, with a slim build and aged in his 20s.

He was wearing a dark hoodie with a red bandana covering his nose and mouth.

The second man was described as Māori with a slim build and aged in his late 20s.

He was wearing a grey hoodie.

Anyone who saw any suspicious activity around the time of the robbery in the Lynmore Junction and Isles Road area has been asked to contact Rotorua Police on (07) 349 9400, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
