A man has been arrested and charged after a man was found critically injured on a footpath in South Auckland last night.
It comes following reports a firearm had been discharged on Zelda Ave, Ōtara, at around 10pm.
Members of the public and police attempted to save the man but he died at the scene.
Police are still working to confirm the identity of the victim.
A 35-year-old man, who is believed to have been known to the man, has been charged with his murder.
He is due to appear in Manukau District Court tomorrow.
Inquiries are ongoing. However, police say at this stage they are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
