A series of suspicious fires in the Hastings CBD overnight is being investigated by police.
The blazes occurred between 9pm and the early hours of this morning and were all within a 1km radius in the Hawke’s Bay city.
The first blaze was at the Historic Opera House building on the corner of Eastbourne and Hastings Streets where it is believed the fire was lit by an intruder or intruders before the alarm was raised at 9.30pm.
The second fire occurred at the Lighthouse building on Queen Street East, and the third outside the Bay Plaza building early this morning.
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area between 9pm last night and 5am this morning.
