Police investigating after Auckland Coastguard organisation vandalised

The Papakura Coastguard turned out to an emergency in the middle of the night to discover both its towing vehicles were damaged.

Workers at a volunteer Coastguard organisation in Auckland are appalled they've been made the victims of vandalism.

The Papakura Coastguard turned out to an emergency in the middle of the night to discover both of its towing vehicles were damaged.

"Luckily it was relatively minor. Had it been substantially more, we would have had difficulty towing our big rescue vessel which could have obviously had a serious consequence down the line," Papakura Coastguard skipper Jim Livett said.

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for information from the public.
