Police attend 'sudden death' on Matakana Island in Bay of Plenty

Police have attended what they described as a sudden death on Matakana Island in the Bay of Plenty this afternoon.

Police told 1 NEWS they were called at about 2.15pm.

A St John spokesperson says they were called to the incident at 1.06pm.

Two first response units were sent, along with a helicopter.

Police say they will release more information when it becomes available.
