A man with a strong accent came to the door of a Te Aro house, offering to waterblast a path.

Police are appealing for information to help find three British men accused of roofing scams across the Auckland and Wellington regions.

There are active warrants for the arrests of James Anthony Nolan, 26; Tommy Ward, 26; and William Donohue, 25. Police say the trio might be in Wellington after police received reports of potential sightings in the capital over the past week.

In December, the men were filmed in Auckland just before Christmas at an elderly man's house. The 79-year-old told 1 NEWS they fleeced him out of almost $19,000.

Multiple reports of similar scams were reported by mid-January, police said. They were referred to their fraud team. Police would like to remind members of the public to be cautious of suspicious approaches by people offering home maintenance work.
