Police appeal for information after woman killed, six others injured in Invercargill crash

Police are appealing for information after a woman was killed and six others injured in a two-car crash in Invercargill last night.

The 37-year-old, who was driving a silver Kia station wagon, was killed after colliding with a green four-door Subaru hatchback at the intersection of Newcastle and Clifton Streets at around 9.10pm.

Six people were hospitalised following the incident, Detective Senior Sergeant Stu Harvey said.

One person was transported to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.

Five others were taken to Southland Hospital in moderate to serious conditions.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.

Police want to speak with anyone who witnessed the crash.

Information is also being sought over the manner of driving by the Subaru earlier in the evening.
