Jacinda Ardern joked that she was happy to have Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement over for dinner, provided they gave her a lift from the airport.

Jacinda Ardern would be happy to oblige the Flight of Conchords and have them around for dinner, but only if they picked her up from the airport.

Asked what Stephen Colbert would discuss with her on The Late Show later today, Ms Ardern mentioned the Flight of the Conchords, who had asked the PM to invite them around for dinner during an appearance on the show earlier this week.

“I’d welcome them for dinner if they pick me up from the airport,” she quipped when asked if she would have Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement for dinner.

Jacinda Ardern is set to appear on the show tomorrow.

The Prime Minister also said Colbert was a huge fan of Lord of the Rings and guessed the movies could come up.

“I’m guessing, it would just be a guess, I know that he is a massive Lord of the Rings fan, and I imagine of that you bring anyone in from New Zealand and there’s likely to be a discussion there.”
