February 3, 2019

The Shchetkova family love New Zealand, but might have to leave for what they call an oversite by the organisation.

Thousands more people has signed a petition overnight in support of a Ukrainian family facing deportation from New Zealand .

5522 people have signed the online document set up by ACT Party leader David Seymour, which calls for Parliament to ask the Minister of Immigration to intervene and allow the hard-working family to stay.

The Shchetkova family arrived in New Zealand six years ago on a long-term business visa to develop a large restaurant.
Mr Seymour said their application for residency was rejected on a technicality.

The Shchetkova’s have been in New Zealand for six years, believe they make a contribution and want to stay.

"They were reassured by Immigration New Zealand that if they bought a different business from the one they originally applied to purchase they could still be eligible for residency, subsequently that has been reverted."

The petition has eight days left before it closes.
