'Peter Dunne is going to have a great career as a political commentator, just don't replace us with him' - MPs Kris & Chris respond to stinging criticism of Coalition process

October 18, 2017

The National and Labour MP are worried they might have some competition for their TVNZ1 Breakfast time slot.

Peter Dunne is destined for a new career in political commentary, say National's Chris Bishop and Labour's Kris Faafaoi, after the pair were asked what they thought of the former United Future leader's critical comments on the negotiation process.

Mr Dunne lashed out at Bill English and Jacinda Ardern yesterday saying they failed to take leadership by letting Winston Peters dictate negotiations.

When Mr Bishop was asked what he made of Mr Dunne's further comments that the party NZ First chooses to go with is failed to doom, he answered: "Peter Dunne is going to have a great career as a political commentator, just don't replace us with him!"

"He's going to have a few things to say about all sorts of things over the next few months and years I suspect."

Mr Faafoi labeled Mr Dunne as "omnipresent".

"More omnipresent than when he was a member of parliament."

On Monday, Act leader David Seymour said Labour and National should have shown more leadership and ensured NZ First's negotiations were public.
