One person is dead after a serious crash in Carterton, north of Wellington.
A single car crashed at the intersection of Te Whiti and Te Kopi roads at around 1.35pm.
Police say the person who died is believed to have been the only person in the car when it crashed.
The road has been closed and diversions are in place, with motorists warned to avoid the area if they can.
