Person dies after being hit by train in South Auckland

One person has died after a pedestrian was hit by a train in South Auckland overnight.

The incident occurred on Hospital Road, in Māngere, at around 12.30am, police said.

The person was transported to Middlemore Hospital where they later died.

The death has been referred to the Coroner.
