Person dies after being hit by train on Auckland's southern line

Police say a person has been hit by a train in Takanini on Auckland's southern train line this morning.

The person is reported to have died as a result of the incident, which took place about 8.10am.

The incident has led to trains on the line being halted in both directions.

Services between Papakura and Takanini are affected.
