Person dies after being hit by car in driveway in Canterbury

A person has died after being hit by a car in a driveway in a small Canterbury town this afternoon.

Police say they were called to the scene in Bayview Crescent, Duvauchelle, about an hour southeast of Christchurch, at around 4pm today.

The person died at the scene and an investigation into the crash is underway.

Police did not provide details of the person's age or gender.
