Person charged over March murder of Hutt Valley man

August 24, 2018

A man has been charged over the murder of Hutt Valley man Paul Te Hiko in Wainuiomata in March.

Police say a 28-year-old man was earlier this week arrested and charged over the murder of 40-year-old Mr Te Hiko.

The accused has been remanded in custody to appear at the Wellington High Court on 11 September.

Police say they believe Mr Te Hiko was "targeted by his attackers" and "we believe others were involved".

In July police said they had narrowed down Mr Te Hiko's time of death to between 9.45 pm and 10.15pm on March 7.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw or has information about the vehicle pictured driving around the Hutt Valley, specifically Wainuiomata, on 7 March 2018 or the days leading up to and following the murder on 7 March 2018.

The vehicle is described as a 1990s white Subaru Forester with a dark coloured bonnet.
