Pedestrian killed in Gisborne crash last night

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Gisborne last night.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Waima Road in Tokomaru Bay shortly before 11pm.

The pedestrian died at the scene, police said in a statement today.

An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
