A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Auckland.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Te Atatu Road, Te Atatu, at 6.38pm.

The pedestrian died in hospital a short time ago.

Traffic has been diverted down Divach Ave and Tirimoana Road.

The serious crash unit has been advised.
