Paula Bennett draws ire of Twitter users over post about PM's NZ Music Month playlist

May 9, 2018

Paula Bennett has received some scathing replies to a tweet she posted today accusing Jacinda Ardern of having too much time on her hands after the Prime Minister released her NZ Music Month playlist.

The National Party deputy leader hit out at Ms Ardern in a tweet today that stated when she was a minister, she "barely had time to listen to a song".

"Ardern mixes her playlist for nz music month. When I was a minister I barely had time to listen to a song. I thought running the country was a full time job," the tweet reads.

Other Twitter users were quick to pounce on Ms Bennett's tweet.

Spinoff editor Toby Manhire linked to a review of a Guns and Roses concert that Ms Bennett wrote for them in February 2017, saying "thanks again for this piece!".

Other users then jumped on board backing up the Prime Minister who is also the Minister for Arts and Culture.

The Prime Minister's NZ Music Month playlist includes hits from Kiwi favourites Dave Dobbyn, The Mutton Birds and Shapeshifter amongst others.
