Pair rescued after boat takes on water in Otago Harbour

Two men had to be rescued after their boat began taking on water in the Otago Harbour early this afternoon.

A police spokesperson has told 1 NEWS the pair were rescued from the mudflats in Otago Harbour about 12.40.

The two men had just returned from diving when they noticed their boat, between Aramoana and Port Chalmers, had taken on water.

A helicopter crew were called in to rescue the two men.

There were two rescue swimmers onboard the helicopter as a precaution.

The pair were successfully extracted and there were no injuries or health concerns.
