Two people were rescued from the southern slopes of Mt Ruapehu last night after one was injured in a fall.
The rescue helicopter was alerted just after 5pm yesterday, where they found a man in his mid-20s with spinal injuries and a broken wrist.

He was joined by a woman, with both of them flown to Rotorua Hospital.
The woman was later discharged.
