Over 1000 Cantabrians turn out to protest plans for second water bottling plant

Cloud Ocean Water have revealed plans for a second plant near their Belfast site.

Over 1000 Cantabrians have turned out today to protest a controversial water bottling plant and to call on the Government to speed up its Resource Management Act review that is currently underway.

It comes after water bottling company Cloud Ocean Water, Ltd. revealed plans last month for a second plant adjacent to their existing site in Belfast.

The protesters will march through the Canterbury CBD before finishing at Cathedral Square.

Despite this, Environment Canterbury says they've yet to receive any application for consent from Cloud Water to start their second operation.

Cloud Ocean Water has bought a block of land in Belfast and says the plant would employ 200 people.
