One person dead after Invercargill crash

One person has died after a two-car crash in Invercargill.

The crash happened near the centre of the city, at the intersection of Dee Street and Avenal Street, shortly before 1pm, police said in a statement.

Diversions are still in place on Dee Street and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

Police are working to determine the circumstances of the crash.
