One person dead after crash near Whanganui

One person has died after a two-car crash near Whanganui last night, police say.

The crash took place south of Kakatahi on State highway 4 at about 7pm and the road was closed by police shortly after.

Police this morning confirmed that a total of seven people received minor injuries in the crash, and one person died.

The circumstances of the crash are now being investigated.
