One person dead after crash near Tauranga

One person has died in a single-vehicle crash near Tauranga this morning.

Emergency services were called to Pyes Pa Road, near the intersection with Oropi Road, shortly after 6am.

Cordons are in place and the Serious Crash Unit has been advised, police said in a statement.

Over the weekend four motorcyclists and one cyclist died on New Zealand roads.
