One person dead after car hits horse in Bay of Plenty

One person has died overnight after their car struck a horse on a road near Edgecumbe in Bay of Plenty.

Police said they received a report of the crash on Te Teko Road about 11.20pm last night.

The driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
