One person dead after boat found submerged off Taranaki coast

One person has been found dead after a submerged boat off the Taranaki coast. 

A police spokesperson said it was notified of the submerged boat close to the Waitara sand bar this morning. 

Another person was found by Coast Guard and has been taken to hospital. 

There is no information on how the boat became submerged. 

Police do not believe anyone else was on the boat.
